Resumen

Introducción: El síndrome de boca ardiente es una entidad patológica caracterizada por la presencia de síntomas crónicos de ardor o dolor en la mucosa bucal clínicamente normal.
Objetivo: Realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el síndrome de boca ardiente en la cual se expongan sus principales factores causales y tratamiento.
Método: Se elaboró una revisión actualizada sobre sobre el síndrome de boca ardiente (SBA) con sus principales factores causales y tratamiento utilizando bibliografía
electrónica en diversas revistas y libros de Odontogeriatria y gerontología en sitios electrónicos como Scielo, entre otros.
Conclusiones: Estableciendo un correcto diagnóstico de SBA el primer paso es explicarle al paciente en qué consiste. No existe ningún tratamiento que pueda
asegurar resultados positivos para todos los pacientes de SBA por lo que cada caso debe ser individualizado.
